How this protein in meat chart works
This protein in meat chart uses the protein values listed per 100 g in the USDA FoodData Central reference. Select raw or cooked to compare only meats described on that basis in the source.
The comparison keeps your selected weight constant, so the rows show how much protein each listed meat would provide at that same weight. Raw and cooked weights are not interchangeable because preparation changes the food description and its listed value.
Protein grams = (selected weight in g ÷ 100) × protein per 100 g This is a food-composition comparison, not medical or dietary advice. A single food value does not determine your nutrition needs; a clinician or registered dietitian decides what is appropriate for you.
Protein in meat chart FAQ
How is protein calculated?
The tool divides your serving weight in grams by 100 and multiplies it by the selected meat's protein grams per 100 g.
Why are there fewer raw comparisons?
The source file lists raw protein data for skinless chicken breast, but not raw values for the other meats shown. The chart does not estimate missing values.
Can I compare cooked and raw weights directly?
No. Choose the basis that matches how your meat is described and weighed. The chart keeps those bases separate.
Are the values exact for every package or cut?
No. They are rounded reference values for the food descriptions named in the USDA source, so a specific product or preparation may differ.
Does this tool tell me how much protein I should eat?
No. It only calculates protein in the foods listed. It does not set a personal target or diagnose a health condition.
