How this protein foods chart computes

This protein foods chart uses the source's protein values per 100 g and the documented typical serving weights where available. Choose a category, serving basis and minimum protein threshold to narrow the lookup.

For each food, the chart converts the per-100 g value to the selected serving amount. It then hides rows below your threshold and sorts the remaining foods by protein or name.

protein per serving = protein per 100 g × serving grams ÷ 100

These are reference values rounded as reported by USDA FoodData Central. A single food value is not a diagnosis or a treatment recommendation; a clinician or registered dietitian can help interpret nutrition needs.

Protein foods chart FAQ

What does the protein foods chart show?

It shows selected foods, their category, the serving basis used and the calculated protein grams for that serving.

What does 100 g mean?

The 100 g option displays the source's protein value without converting it to a typical portion.

How are typical servings calculated?

The chart uses only serving weights listed in the source, such as 28 g for 1 oz of nuts or 44 g for one large egg. Foods without a listed typical weight use 100 g.

Can I use this to set my protein target?

No. This is a food lookup, not individualized nutrition advice. Protein needs vary, so ask a clinician or registered dietitian about your target.

Are these values exact for every product?

No. The values are rounded reference values and can vary by brand, preparation and portion.
